Lakeside students were recognized for their achievements at Honors Night on 4/22/25. Three of Lakeside’s outstanding students received scholarships from the Lakeside Foundation of $2,000 each to be used for their college expenses.

The Daniel Gordon Viking Scholarship honors an athlete who is devoted to Lakeside and to youth in our community. This year, Molly McHoul is the proud recipient of this recognition. Molly earned a 4.0 GPA at Lakeside, while taking 12 AP courses and maintaining a busy athletic and extracurricular schedule. In addition to being an outstanding pitcher, teammate, and Captain of the LHS Softball Team, Molly has participated in Travel Softball teams and mentored young athletes in the local community. She has a heart for service and is active in many organizations at Lakeside, including NHS, Beta Club, and the French Honor Society. In her free time, Molly has tutored underprivileged children with LaAmistad and worked as a camp counselor for children with disabilities and their siblings through FOCUS. Molly earned the Merci Award from the National Charity League for the highest volunteer hours. She has been praised as not just an exemplary athlete, but as a generous and selfless individual who puts the needs of others ahead of her own pursuits. Molly will attend Georgia Institute of Technology in the Fall, where she will study engineering and plans to participate in Intramural Athletics.

The Lakeside Foundation is pleased to provide these scholarships to recognize outstanding students and honor the legacies of Joe Reed, Jim McMahan, and Daniel Gordon. This year, we were fortunate to be able to double the scholarship values from $1,000 each to $2,000 each, thanks to the generosity of a proud 2007 Lakeside alumnus. We welcome your tax deductible gifts to fund future scholarships. Monthly or one-time donations can be made anytime using the donation button on the Lakeside Foundation website.
