Lakeside students were recognized for their achievements at Honors Night on 4/22/25. Three of Lakeside’s outstanding students received scholarships from the Lakeside Foundation of $2,000 each to be used for their college expenses.

Hannah Choi received the Joseph P. Reed Alumni Scholarship, which honors well-rounded exemplary students. Hannah maintained a 4.0 GPA at Lakeside, while taking 12 AP classes and participating in a variety of extracurricular activities, including National Honor Society and the LHS Film Club, which she founded. She is President of the LHS Marching Band, where she leads the Woodwinds section. Her interest in Science has led her to participate in the Science Olympiad, CDC’s Disease Detectives, Fernbank’s Scientific Tools and Technology program, and the Governor’s Honors Program in Biology. Hannah’s weekly volunteer position at the Korean-American School of Atlanta earned her the President’s Service Award two years in a row. She is described as a well-rounded and exceptional student, who used her natural leadership skills to address dress code policy inequities in DeKalb Schools and identify food deserts in our community to local government leaders. Hannah will attend University of Georgia in the Fall.

The Lakeside Foundation is pleased to provide these scholarships to recognize outstanding students and honor the legacies of Joe Reed, Jim McMahan, and Daniel Gordon. This year, we were fortunate to be able to double the scholarship values from $1,000 each to $2,000 each, thanks to the generosity of a proud 2007 Lakeside alumnus. We welcome your tax deductible gifts to fund future scholarships. Monthly or one-time donations can be made anytime using the donation button on the Lakeside Foundation website.
