Sebastian highlighted his strong academics with an unweighted 3.75 GPA, with AP courses and being dual enrolled his senior year. Sebastian was a member of My Brothers Keeper for two years and has a strong connection within his church and service to other church organizations in his community. Sebastian’s coaches shared that he spearheaded the Labor of Love food drive, organizing food donations from classmates, the community and businesses. He then recruited some of his teammates and classmates, as well as coaches to help deliver these collected items, as well as a donated dinner they all spent time serving while at the MUST Ministry in Marietta. It was Sebastian’s coaches who shared the Labor of Love fundraiser with us. They were Sebastian’s coaches for the Lakeside Viking Basketball team; a team Sebastian has been a member of for four years, and as a senior he served as one of the team Captains. In his essay he shared how he feels the experience of being a member of the team helped him develop skills such as teamwork, leadership, poise and tenacity. He worked hard at gaining a balance of his academics and sports, and set a goal to get an offer to play basketball in college. Sebastian rounded out his senior year by receiving the 2023 Viking Award for Boys Basketball. Sebastian is now attending Webster University and received a scholarship to play basketball!
