Without a doubt Micah has worked hard all four years having maintained an unweighted 3.92 GPA, taking 8 AP courses, along with advanced/gifted classes to round out her schedule. She was a member of National Honors Society, Interact Club, My Sister’s Keeper, Herstory, and Delta G.E.M.S & Academy, and four years as a violinist with the Lakeside Orchestra. Last summer Micah participated in a week-long healthcare-focused leadership development program with 21st Century Leaders, Healthcare and IT Institute, followed by participating in NextGen Internship at Emory University School of Medicine, Dept of Human Genetics receiving experience within lab and clinical settings.

Micah spent many hours volunteering with Citizens of Georgia Power for 5 years and Medshare for the past two years. But she is the most proud of her time spent volunteering as an assistant cheer coach at Henderson Middle School. As she wrote in her essay, the Henderson cheer team lost their sponsor prior to 2020, but luckily they had a parent willing to step up as sponsor and to keep things organized. Micah stepped up to provide her cheering knowledge. This was a skill set that Micah was qualified to offer since she has been a member of Lakeside’s Football and Basketball cheer team for four years and served as Captain for the Varsity Cheer team. In her time coaching and mentoring the cheer team at Henderson, Micah shared how she found herself gaining confidence in her own leadership abilities. She found a purpose and set a goal for her future as a healthcare leader, and future mentor for those following her footsteps in the world of STEM. Micah has taken that first step by attending Barnard College/Columbia University!
