Amber received many awards and accolades during her four years at Lakeside High School.  Some of them include: member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, Spanish Honor Society (serving as Vice President and President), and Tri-M Music Honor Society.  She received the Georgia Certificate of Merit, was a finalist in the National PTA Reflections contest, received the Spelman Book Award, was a Coca-Cola Scholars Program Semi-finalist and was 2nd runner-up in this year’s Miss Lakeside Pageant.   In addition she performed in the Waikiki Holiday Thanksgiving Parade, was President of the Choral Council for 2 years, and published four poems in a literary magazine. Amber also plays the piano and the ukulele, and is a strong vocal performer. 

Amber’s involvement in the Atlanta Chapter of Jack & Jill of America began when she was a young child; she has risen to leadership positions in the organization and has grown as a person through her years of dedication to the group. If all of these things didn’t keep Amber busy enough, she also babysits, tutors students and has worked at Chick-Fil-A since she was in 9th grade, rising to the position of Team Trainee.

Amber Young personifies the true spirit of the Lakeside Viking!  She excels academically, athletically and artistically, and she is deserving of the Foundation’s scholarship award. Amber will be attending Yale University in the fall and plans to study political science, Spanish and non-profit management.
